Central Bar

The central bar, just above the bodies of the messages, groups the tools which let you get to a message quickly and also shows you:

  • This button shows a menu that groups the options for actions on the active message:
    • Menu Headers : To view the headers. They will be show in the body of the message. Several choices are available :
      • Menu Hide the headers : all headers are hidden when viewing the message , inclusive the Face/XFace
      • Menu Headers : minimal headers : shows the most important headers : subject, newsreader and the destination of the message
      • Menu Headers : All headers : shows all headers of the message
      • Menu Headers : Custom : shows the headers selected in the submenu choice of the headers to display
      • Menu choice of the headers to display : shows a screen that lets you chose the headers to display in the body of the message
      • Menu Face en XFace: management of the special characters for the Faces and the XFaces in the message (a picture send with a message). When the option Hide the headers was chosen Faces/XFaces won't be shown.
        • Menu None : Does not show Face nor XFace in the messages
        • Menu Only XFace (BW) : shows only XFace (picture in Black and white). When the message only includes a coloured Face, this will not be shown.
        • Menu Only Face (coloured) : shows only the Face (coloured). When the message only includes a XFace (Black and White), this will not be shown.
        • Menu Preferred Face (colour) : when the message includes a Face, this will be shown. Otherwise the XFace will be shown. (If the message includes a Face and a XFace only the Face will be shown).
    • Menu Format of the message : Lets you chose the format of the message shown (messages that are in text and html), also if pictures are shown:
      • Menu Automatic : if the message was send in html it will be shown in html. Otherwise it will be shown in text format..
      • Menu Preferable : format text : When message was send in html but includes text it will be shown in text format.
      • Menu Preferable : format html : When message was send in html but includes text it will be shown in html format..
      • Menu Image display format : options for the images that are attached
        • Menu Normal size : The pictures that are attached are shown without resizing.
        • Menu Adapt to article pane size : Resizes the pictures so they would be seen totally seen. If they are smaller than the window then they won't be resized.
        • Menu Always small : resizes the pictures and shows them in thumbnails (200*200 pixels)
      • Menu Turn off sound in Html messages: When the message was send in html and includes a soundfile the sound will be played. By ticking this menu option the sound will not be played automatically in place there will be an icon shown in the central bar to point out there is a soundfile attached (remark : this menu works only with html messages : soundfiles in attached in text messages will never be played automatically).
    • Menu Level of quote : Lets you chose the amount of quotes shown in the body of a message. This menu takes the options of the screen Preferences, part show/Display.
      • Menu To display all : shows all quotes of the message.
      • Menu Delete all quotes : removes all quotes of the message.
      • Menu Delete quote step> X : removes all quotes above the value chosen in the message.
      • Menu Indicate the deleted quote : When you have chosen one of the previous options to remove the quotations and if this option is ticked the information "deleted quote" will be added to the body of the message, this so you can see the parts that will not be shown.
    • -Menu View messages :Options to make you choice how to view the messages. The views can also be set in the screen view messages.
      • Menu view messages : shows the screen view messages.
      • The other menu's show the list of views you have chosen in MesNews.
    • Menu Choice of messages to be displayed : let you chose the displayed messages according to criteria.
      • Menu Options display : screen to select message to display
      • Menu Show all messages : shows all messages in the group
      • Menu Show only unread messages : shows only unread messages. When option Compile by discussion was ticked, shows only the discussions with at least one unread message.
      • Menu show only read messages : shows only read messages, when option Compile by discussion was ticked then MesNews will show only the discussions that where totally read.
      • Menu Show only followed up messages : shows only followed up messages. When option Compile by discussion was ticked only discussions are shown that are followed up.
      • Menu Only marked messages : shows only marked messages. When this option is selected the option Compile by discussion is automatically ticked off.
      • Menu Show only messages with attachments: shows only the messages with attachment. When this option is ticked the option Compile by discussion is automatically ticked off.
      • Menu Compile by discussion : when ticked all options for discussions count, the messages are being compiled by discussion. Otherwise each message is shown without being linked with discussion it belongs to (all messages are at the base of the thread).
  • Selects the first thread containing an unread message by choosing the message at the base of the discussion.
  • Selects the first unread message, by opening the thread to select the message.
  • Selects the next unread message by starting the search at the selected message incase no message found the search will start at the base of thread.
  • Closes the selected thread.
  • Access to source of message.
  • Return to previous selected message.
  • Shows the message that was selected before use of last button.
  • The message is a html message with backgroundsound. activate or deactivate the sound.
  • When the message contains attachments the screen is shown to save files in a file.
  • The text in the middle shows information of the group and the selected message. The text to be shown is set in the screen preferences, in the section Central bar.
  • Shows the formats available in the message:"text" when it is a message in text format; "html" when it is a message in html format ; "text/html" when both formats are available. Between brackets the format of the message that is shown.
  • Maximizes the message window.
  • Gives the dimensions of the tree-window and the message-window.
  • maximizes the dimensions of the message thread.
  • Offers choices for the size of tree-window in relation to the message-window.

Remark :
- Icons can be added in the middle bar though plugins.
